I shoot Steel Challenge with a M&P9. I want the Ruger Carbine and have seen the videos on how to modify the S&W mags to work in the Ruger.
Anyone try it? And is there someone selling them?

@laremm1911 - I'll second that an FPC would be a better match for your M&P pistol for competition. I've got both. See this thread for discussion:

With that said I have modded M&P mags to fit the SR9 magwell on the Ruger PC Carbine. I bought a couple of ProMags to experiment on and got them working just fine. It was a "does this work" kind of thing and the answer was yes. You need to take your time.

Good information on the review. Especially from people that did Steel Challenge. I wasnt sure if I should go with an AR platform.
I have been shooting the M&P9 since 2011 so I have a bunch of magazines. I didn't want to sell everything and start again with a Glock to match a PCC. And the use is for Steel Challenge or 2 gun.
I will get the FPC
Thanks

Marvin02 has two Ruger PCC9's. Lately the FPC has been his go to for the matches. He said he is loving it.

I think it is a smart move since you are already geared up for the M&P.

I have an AR9....Ruger PCC9 and the S&W FPC9. They are all a bit different in their own way. I like each one equally.

In the interest of full coverage there are other PCCs that can utilize M&P mags.

Kel-Tec Sub 2K multi-mag version. I almost bought the MCarbo version of this before I got my first Ruger PCC, with the folding mount for an optic and a couple of other addons it gets over $1,000.

Just Right Carbines, finding the M&P version in stock can be hard.

I've never owned either and I believe that there are others.

Here is some info about the PCCs used in steel challenge:

If you want info on how blowback 9mm rifles work and tuning them for reduced recoil check out:

The info is geared toward AR9 style rifles, but is worth reading if you want to get a handle on direct blowback operation.

The really fast guys don't use Ruger PC Carbines and I'm the only person I've seen with an FPC, so far. I shot three rifles at my match yesterday, a Ruger PC Carbine with iron sights, a Ruger 10/22 with iron sights and the FPC with a Holosun 510c red dot. The total money I have in all three of those is just about the same as the PCC that another shooter was using. I'm not a top level competitor, just a guy who shoots to have fun.
