I put many thousands of rounds through my MK II and it still functioned perfect with the factory recoil spring assembly. My MK III had a factory defect where the "horse shoe" end broke off the first time I took it apart for cleaning, so I had to replace the recoil spring assembly. So …. as long as it isn't broke, it should last for many bricks of ammo.

 

I also had the "horseshoe" assemble end break a couple years ago on my MK III. I ordered a new one plus a spare and have never needed it. Love my MK III. Sarge (Johnn)

 

Is that assembly on the MK2 the same (essentially) as the MK1? If so, my Mark 1 has 50,000+ rounds through it without failure.

Years ago, there was a story about a South African Standard Model or Mark II that had shot about a half-million rounds with one half of the horseshoe "ears" broken off.
They must never have disassembled it, and were surprised that it had happened.
Of course, they didn't know where in the 1/2 Million rounds it may have broken.
But... like a Timex watch...

Me...I'd replace the assembly.
