Haven't shot my SP101 .357 with the 3" barrel a whole lot, I think due to the undersized grips. I in no way have large hands, I think it comes with these small grips to help make it compact carry gun. Anyway - any suggestions for a slightly larger set of grips?

I went with the Pachmayr Compact grips. The grips add a little weight and feel great in the hand (a little fuller). Not the same quality of the old USA made grips and I had to "glue" the escutcheon "nut" in with vehicle weatherstripping adhesive due to the hole being oversized.

UPDATE: 9-4-2024
Got a chance to test fire my SP 101 today with these grips. I was test firing a bunch of different ammo brands to confirm 100% positive ignition after doing a fluff & buff to the action and replacing the trigger return spring and the main spring. I even touched off a mixed bag of 357 mag rounds (WOW). These grips feel fantastic with one issue. The grip wants to shift around slightly on the frame. I'm going to have to trim the threaded end of the screw down so I can tighten the screw down a little tighter. The grip screw is already sticking out of the escutcheon as far as I can without it protruding from the grip face.

Good question...and the right answer is, there's a lot of options out there and don't be afraid to try a few different one's to get the best fit-n-feel for you!
While I have smaller sized hands, and I prefer the Hogue Rubber-molded grip for the SP101 revolver.
If you have average or larger hands, the Hogue wood grips are comfortable and run just a tad too big for my grip size!

This is a set of Pachmayr Renegade grips. You can get them smooth or checkered. These started out checkered but were a little too big for my liking. I sanded down the checkering and they now feel much better. Jury is still out as to whether they'll stay on or not. More range time is needed to see if I shoot better with them over the factory grip.

I too have a Ruger SP101 3" stainless. It had the original rubber grips with small plastic panels, which were functional, but ugly. I replaced the plastic grip panels with Chigs spalted maple. Those were pretty, but after a while I wanted a bigger grip so ordered a set of Hogue checkered, finger groove, in Goncalo. They are both gorgeous and functional. Love them.

I have pretty large hands as well. The problem I found with the aftermarket grips is you don't get as high a grip as on the stock and that affects accuracy for me. The aftermarket grips often take up the area behind the trigger guard where your middle finger goes and I don't like that (no middle finger jokes LOL). I think Altamont does the best job of not doing that they are wider and don't force your hand down. I like Hogue but the are longer not really wider they felt great on my gp100. I haven't tried badger because I hear they get in the way of speed loaders. Everyone seems to like pachmayr but I haven't tried them either.

The SP's really need a decent aftermarket grip to work for me. The cut is which grips to go with as they are all a bit different. The fact that the Diamond Pro's work well for me, has little to do with all of the different hands out there in the world. Opinions for this or that are what works for Joe, Pete, or Harry, etc. The cost of trying a couple options installed on a particular gun, (often less than a couple boxes of ammunition), to improve the effectiveness and comfort for the shooter is well worth the spend.

Most of my Rugers have the Diamond pros, never had any speed loader issues with any of 'em.
