I recently purchased a Ruger model 8366, which is the American rimfire target model with stainless barrel and black laminated thumbhole stock. My question is with the adjustment for the trigger pull weight. I understand how the set screw adjusts the pull weight but is has had no effect when trying to lower it. I have even removed the spring completely and still have a 3-1/2 pound weight per my trigger scale. Curious, has anyone else had this situation with this trigger assembly in either rimfire or center fire as I understand they both work on the same principal. Is there a further modification that can be done to lower the trigger pull? I'd like to get it down to 1-1/2 to 2 pound range as this is used for bench rest target shooting.
