Trigger on the Ruger American Rimfire Target

The set screw does modify the trigger pull but your 3-1/2 pound pull is really about the minimum backing it all the way out will produce.

You can reduce the pull significanty by trimming the internal trigger spring a coil or two and there are several Youtube videos showing how it is done. Search for "Ruger American trigger job".

I've trimmed the springs on both a centerfire and rimfire American and the trigger pulls improved to 2 pounds and were bump safe. I also bought a couple of extra springs from Ruger to be sure I could return the rifles to OEM specs if I ever sold them.

Mcarbo offers lighter springs so you can avoid modifying the OEM spring if you wish.
