Your going to have a tough time either way, and I carry a .380..........I use Remington UHD 102 gr. BJHP..............the only other recourse is illegal, so I won't mention it, and if you ever had to use your weapon, and they discovered this little helper, they wouldn't be too happy.

 

Moakes has my recommendation as well. Critical Defense is designed to penetrate and then expand. The little red polymer tip is supposed to not clog with fabric, and then aid in getting the expansion going. Plus, you get 25 per box, instead of 20, like most other SD ammo.

 

I carry Buffalo Bore +P 100 Gr. HCFN & Buffalo Bore +P 95 Gr. JHP rounds staggered in the magazine(s) of my Sig P232. Best of both worlds.

 

FMJ for me, the jury is still out as far as I am concern on the hollow points.

 

We carry FMJ's in our .380, as well, year-round.

 

The 380 is a sub caliber defense round at best. If makes you feel good then carry it.

The .380 has proven to be effective when used properly in self defense situations. If you follow these steps it really won't matter which ammo that you choose: Two rounds to the face (usually sufficient to stop threat), follow with two rounds to the groin, finish with two to the center mass. If the threat continues after all this , throw the gun at the person and run for your life!
