Anybody use a brass catcher with their 10/22?
Our club keeps brooms and dustpans at each range for cleanup. Now if we could just get the shooters to use them.....Easier range cleanup if required.
Maybe melt it down, Plate lead bullets, swedge and reload emNope. Can't reload rimfire.
So why save the brass?
Either this thread or somewhere else somebody corrected me. Brass catchers for 22s are good for guys with outdoor ranges who need to retrieve brass so they don't send tiny shell casings flying this way and that with lawn mowers or other yard work projects.Maybe melt it down, Plate lead bullets, swedge and reload em
You are a good person for rethinking this. No one wants to leave a mess behind and no one wants to have to walk through or over it.Either this thread or somewhere else somebody corrected me. Makes sense to me. I was wrong, there's a very good reason for those guys to have a brass catcher.
It's cleaning up after yourself. Why either leave, or pick-up hundreds of shells when you're done?Nope. Can't reload rimfire.

I made one after seeing this ad, pretty easy and works good. This has got the wheels turning. I can make something like this.
My question is why??
I hear ya and agree, but I usually will shoot 100-150 rounds and at 71 years old, it doesn't do my lower back any good looking for all that brass in the grass and have to worry about any live rounds playing peek-a-boo with my garden tractor. Ya know what I mean?I don't use a brass catcher. I use a brass picker upper.....

I came with two of them. They were "free". And they work on all my favorite calibers.
yep, I am only 54, I shoot and pick up a lot of brass as I have a range here at home. I also shoot year round so in winter, some stays till spring. nothing against brass catchers, I may want one someday, but today, I am stuck on the free picker uppers!I hear ya and agree, but I usually will shoot 100-150 rounds and at 71 years old, it doesn't do my lower back any good looking for all that brass in the grass and have to worry about any live rounds playing peek-a-boo with my garden tractor. That is the one I use on all of my side charging rifles. I have tried several but this one is the BEST!Updating my post from 3 years ago...I just bought two of these Caldwell versions and they are fantastic!
Universal Brass Catcher | Caldwell (caldwellshooting.com)
First, they have two velcro straps that will go around any forearm and snug up right. No extra mounts needed, will work on any rifle.
Second, they have a pivot so will swing open out of the way, perfect for side-charging receivers. Great for 10/22s and my BCA side-charging ARs.
Third, I like that they have a zipper on the bottom for emptying but I leave the zipper open with a small cardboard box underneath so the brass falls into the box.
Finally, I bought two on sale for only $19 each.
