Some of you may have read my comments in another thread regarding what happened with my SR22 yesterday at the range.
Briefly, I just purchased this gun on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 and 6 days later March 3, 2012 it was my 4th trip to the range with this fun gun. To this point the gun had functioned flawlessly, absolutely no failures of any kind and I loved it. However on round number 1095 , the slide flew off about 10-15 feet down range.
The take down lever was always super tight before and I was not having issues with it like others had reported. But when this happened, the take down lever was open and there is now a big chunk taken out of it. It really was simply a complete failure of the part. (I think that the take down lever and the guide rod should be made of metal.) After putting everything back together, the take down lever will not stay shut. As soon as I rack the gun back the lever pops open and the slide pops off the rear.
I'll be giving Ruger a call first thing in the morning. I know that they will make it right, but I'm a little sad about this as I love Ruger guns and have never had any issues with any other gun from them.
Anyway, I thought that I would post some pics so you all could see the damage that was done and watch out for any cracks or breakage in the same place on your own SR22P.
