Does anyone else frequently use Handgun Hero for comparing different models to each other? For kicks I lined up an Alaskan and an SP101. They are surprisingly similar in overall profile and length. In fact, I think Ruger should make a version of the SP101 and call it the Mini-Alaskan!

I'm not sure it would sell well enough since the SP101 isn't capable of handling anything larger than the .357 magnum it's already chambered for. It would just be an aesthetic change but yes, I use this fairly often to compare sizes before buy.

I discovered Handgun Hero only a couple weeks ago. Previously I used Genitron.

I’ve used it but I forgot about it until now. I seem to remember it didn’t have the gun I wanted to compare in its database.
Comparing the SP and the Alaskan is going to look similar until the top view when you can see how much fatter the frame, barrel and cylinder are… or maybe you’ve seen it already, I don’t know if they have three-views

They have rear views for some guns. Seems like the top view would be very useful. The Table is pretty useful though - more so for Semis that revolvers.

Though many find it fun the usefulness is limited.

Everything depends on your frame of reference(s).

Can you actually relate what those fractions of an inch differences would be like?
Same for differences in weight?

Most people can't!

Several people made a huge deal about the larger size and weight of the new FN HIGH POWER compared to a classic like the SA35.
I've been shooting my BHPs constantly. SA35 is identical. Shot them side by side with the FN.
Couldn't FEEL the difference in size or weight!

My Dad was a Millwright. He had calibrated eyes. He could perceive small differences.

Some can look at a Blueprint and SEE it 3 dimensionally in their brain down to the measurements.

Some can feel and judge small weight differences.

Most of us cannot. Especially, all of it combined.

Nothing beats laying your hands on them. And if you're honest with yourself, you may find it doesn't matter. Even when you shoot them.

That's a reason i ask, how does it shoot for you?

Range Rentals are bigger today. Perfect way to compare and/or try before buying. Have a blast at the same time.

Yes, true there!
