Have the 10/22 barrel threaded or buy a new barrel?

I have a 22/45 with a Gemtech IID Suppressor ordered waiting for the government to issue my permit. I also have a 10/22 50th Anniversary Edition and would like to be able to use the suppressor on the 10/22 too.

Should I have the 10/22 barrel threaded or buy a threaded barrel? Can any reputable gunsmith thread the barrel? If buying an new threaded barrel is a better option, which barrel is recommended and where can I purchase it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Jeepinouray is referencing Jim Pixley, JP Grips and Machine. He does excellent work and is highly recommended. Its not as simple as having any Gunsmith just thread the end of the barrel. A quality job has to be done because if the threads and shoulder arent concentric to the bore, you can get baffle strikes, and ruin your expensive suppressor. The 10/22 barrel can be threaded two ways. You can thread it, and lose the front sight, or thread it and remount the front sight. I had Jim thread and remount my sight, and it looks like a factory job. Plus my barrel wasnt particularly accurate, and he recrowns the muzzle , now my 10/22 shoots one ragged hole at 50 yards on a rest.

If you have the REAL 50th anniversary your barrel is threaded. Otherwise you just have a 10/22 made in 2014. There are places that can thread the barrel.

I had a 10/22 Target model that I had threaded by a local gunsmith/machinist for a suppressor. No problems at all.
