I just finished installing the TandemKross hammer bushing also. Easy peasy if you don't push the the hammer pin all the way out.....

I actually called Tandencross and discussed changing their instructions so the user moves the hammer pin just far enough to release the hammer assembly, while keeping the sear, spring, and safety in place. What a pain to reassemble if the whole works drops out. Good luck.

Had a customer put a mag in backwards in a Ruger mk3 22 and what an
ordeal. I had to make a very special tool and it was still a bear. Ruger
has a gig going on here that is about $60 for the removal of the mag
according to the customer. A good heads up is to stay away from the mk3.
Ruger has it fixed so that very little work can be done without the mag
in the right direction much less the wrong way. They have created a
safety hazard for no reason with the mag issue. I can understand someone
accidentally putting a mag in the wrong way in the dark or just by not
paying attention but this design flaw is beyond comprehension. I cant
wait until one of the home gunsmiths accidentally get shot working on
one of these mk3s putting a hot mag in the pistol forgetting it has a
round in it as this is an accident waiting to happen.
The on line tool isn't much help also. Need to post this on PS and
sniper hide and all forms you visit. I don't like to kick a product line
but this a poor design.

Don't know what the problem is, but this guy is posting the same thing all over the internet.

 

I remember my 1st outing with my 22/45, my fingers were bleeding from getting pinch between the bolt & the receiver (dam them edges are sharp), my thumbs were sore from loading mags and my finger nails ached from prying them mags out!

Then I remove the mag safety, tooled a bushing, made a mag loader and learned to keep my fingers off the bolt when it was going foreward.

I think I seen this in a bugs bunny cartoon, were you put the mag in backward rack the slide and the bullet shots the shooter.

I can't believe the Mark III is the only gun, that if you put the mag in backwards and slam it home, the mags will jam in the gun.

 

I watched a youtube video on the installment and I knew not to push the hammer pin too far, but I slipped and oops. Got it back together and the slide wouldn't come back. Had to watch another youtube video to learn that the sear had to be in the right position, which it wasn't after I let everything fall apart. Once I had that figured out, no problem. Don't know what I would have done without 'youtube' saving my butt.

 

Youtube is your best friend if you own one of these pistols.

I did the following mods the first time I took a Ruger MkIII (22/45) apart, all by watching youtube videos...... about 5 of them:

-Cut the 'ear' off the magazine disconnect so magazines would fly out.

-Smoothed the bottom of the disconnect so I could dry fire without a magazine inserted.

-Polished the hammer where the sear rides and got my trigger pull down to 4.5lbs, from 5.5lbs.

These pistols are easy to modify for little to no cost.

 

just installed vq sear and bam bushing. went from 4lbs to a little over 2lbs.mags drop out easy,love it!ruger mark 3 22/45

 

Bought a bushing myself but couldnt wait and filed the tab on the mag dc...10minutes and 2 reassemblies later, works like a charm. If I had my dremel it would have taken 5. I think im going to return the bushing I ordered.
