If the spring tenssion is week or not adjusted properly in a stock 10 round ruger magazine would that contribute or cause jamming? Is one jam in 75 rounds fired to be expected?

It could. What magazine are we discussing! Most are not adjustable. The 10/22 is so more specific information might help you get a good answer.

Is one jam in 75 rounds fired to be expected?
Possibly, when a firearm is new. Sometimes based on the ammo selected. The firearm in question is key to that answer as well. I can't get my P95 to jam but I had 2 jams in the first 200 rounds fired. More than one thousand rounds later, no jams.

My 22/45 still gives me an occasional jam after over ten thousand rounds but I know what ammo is most likely to cause that and which ones do not.

I accessed the thread through the quick links and completely zoned out on the forum heading! It is a 10/22 magazine I now realize. Sorry about that. I'll retract my post and yield to Precision32. I don't own a 10/22 but use one often enough to see the merits in his comments.

Thanks for the answers. Yep 10/22 mfg date 1986, I am the third owner and don't have any history other than the second owner (my Dad) didn't use it. The Jam was an over ride. I found the video on cleaning and adjusting the mag so now I just need to get out again to shoot. Thanks for the help.
