Can any one help with a date of manufacture or approx. value of a Ruger pistol? On the left side it says: Ruger 22 Cal. Long Rifle, Automatic Pistol. On the right side it says: Sturm Ruger & Co., Southport, Conn. USA, with the serial number 224227. It does not say Mark ...
Thank you.

Attempting to get the approximate value of a Strum, Ruger & Co, 22 cal LR, automatic with approx 4.5" barrel. Serial #: 260866. Apparently manufactured 1964.

This request is for a military widow neighbor who found this weapon in her attic. The weapons is very clean with chrome trigger, and chrome bottom on magazine.

To all interested,

For mnf dates, see THIS page from the Ruger website! There you can identify any early Standard or Mk1 Ruger manufacture date.

FWIW: If the pistol is Not rolled stamped "Mark I" on the receiver, then it would be either a RST4 tapered 4 3/4" barrel, or a RST6 tapered 6" barrel STANDARD, with fixed sights (1949-1982)!

If it is rolled stamped "Mark I", then it could either be a 6 7/8" heavy taper barrel, a rare 5 1/4" heavy taper barrel, or a 5 1/2" bull barrel Target MkI, with adjustable sights (1951-1982)!

For new Ruger Mk pistol owners, HERE is a nicely condensed reference history on the Ruger .22 Rimfire story!
