I also have a M1A (SOCOM) which I would like to put a can on. Is that all you had to do was the adjustable gas plug?

 

Well, apart from the appropriate suppressor mount, all I needed was the gas plug to compensate for the added back pressure.

Only downside to using the adjustable gas plug is that you don't have a suppressed or non-suppressed setting. You have to tune it for use strictly with a suppressor, without, or somewhere in the middle. I set mine to somewhere in the middle where it would cycle fine (almost to the point of short stroking) with the can off.

Sorry if I am late to the party. I had to dig up the email I got from Ruger a few years ago when I inquired about using my Rugged Surge suppressor on my mini 30. Here was Ruger’s reply



“Thank you for contacting Ruger Customer Service.

We haven't done any testing with the Mini-14 or Mini-30 with 30 caliber sound suppressors "can". While it is possible to put a sound suppressor on our Mini-14 or Mini-30, they don't have the larger barrel diameter and shoulder like the 300 blackout version. Therefor if you choose to put a "can" on your rifle, there should be extreme care taken to ensure the "can's" bore truly lines up with the axis of the barrel bore to prevent a fired bullet from hitting baffles inside the "can" and destroying it.

So, based on this, make sure you get an alignment rod for your suppressor. As for overgassed and back pressure, you are kind of on your own.

Ruger now says suppressors will work with subsonic .300 black. It's tuned for subsonic suppressed, and supersonic unsuppressed.

I've ran Silencerco 36M in short configuration and YHM R9 on a Mini 14 Tactical with a .050 bushing. Both did very well. They both have .38 bores and don't have a lot of back pressure. The Griffin Optimus Micro that sound amazing of my Ruger RAR 556 bolt action doesn't work for @#$% on my Mini 14.

 

Accuracy systems makes adjustable gas blocks for mini 14s. They also make different size gas plugs.

 

Griffin Optimus Micro really was designed as a rimfire suppressor. It's rated to 22-250 but it has no volume. 1.1 inch diameter and less than 6 inches long. Not worth the money to go adjustable. ASI .050 gas bushing works with my other suppressors and when it runs without them.

 

I purchased a Mini-14 tactical six weeks ago and I just received an adjustable gas block from Accuracy Systems. I haven't installed it yet, I wanted to zero in the scope so I had a good base line. I'm looking at purchasing the YHM Resonator R2.

 

i have a LE very early Mini 14 that had a flash suppressor on it but lent to a friend and it came home without it been looking for a replacement it is not a screwed on suppressor
