MDF, There's no such thing as a crane tool for a GP100. The cylinder assembly is held together with a spring loaded plunger and a pin. Here's as close as I can get ... use a small punch or jeweler's screwdriver to push in the spring loaded plunger on the right. When the spring loaded plunger is pushed in, you can then push the cross pin out (left), also with a small punch or jeweler's screwdriver. When the cross pin is removed, the latch and spring will fall out. Easy to take apart .... not so easy to put back together so pay close attention to how each part is positioned PRIOR to taking the assembly apart.

Safe to assume SP101 is same operation?

 

Mikes1707, SP101 cylinder assemblies are similar with the spring loaded plunger and cross pin, however the GP100 crane uses two ball bearings inside the tube to retain the cylinder. SP101 cylinders do not have the ball bearings so once you remove the trigger assembly, it will release the cylinder so it will just pull off the crane assembly. In other words, you don't need to take the crane assembly apart to remove the cylinder from the crane. If you look closely at a SP101 frame, you will see a retainer lip on the lower left side of the recoil shield. This is the only thing that keeps a SP101 cylinder from falling out when the crane is not latched ... designed much like a S&W revolver.

I am looking for the tool to remove the ejector on the GP100

 

To be clear on what you're asking:

You're able to remove the cylinder from the crane (picture Iowegan posted), but are now looking to remove the extractor from the cylinder itself (aka ejector, but I'm a literalist). Is that correct? If so, read on...

So you're needing a split tip screwdriver bit. You can make this on your own with a hacksaw or dremel tool and a cheap tip from any hex driver set, OR, you can spend $9 plus S&H to buy the far superior Brownells Magna-Tip product:

MDF, As Varminterror stated, the "ejector bit" works OK. Be advised ... the screw in question is called an "ejector retainer" and has left hand threads. Ruger likes to use thread lock on this screw so be prepared for a challenge to get it out without damage. Heat helps a lot ... put the cylinder in a 300 deg oven for a few minutes to loosen the threadlock. Also .... the ejector bit can not get a straight shot at the slot because it has no center hole so be careful or you will booger up the screw's slot.

I made my own tool using a hollow steel shaft nut driver with the "socket" cut off and the tip ground much like the tip in Varminterror's post. Because it has a hollow shaft, it will get squared contact with the ejector retainer, making it much easier to remove without damage.

Mikes1707, Yes the ejector retainer is just like a GP100.

The tool that you show is made for the single action.
I could make this tool work but I need one with a hole in the center to slide over the center pin rod.
I think I found one from Brownells they said it il like the tool you but it has the hole in the center.
I will find out in the next few days ( it was shipped to me yesterday)if it is the right one I will post the part number

they said that the tool that they are sending me has the hole in the center of the bit to slide over the center pin rod.

See how the part number shows "Ruger DA Ejector"... The one that came in the mail when I ordered that part was the right tool. Looks just like it, has a hole in the middle. Ain't rocket science.

The tool from Brownells came I the other day, and it is the right one. Just like the one in the picture but it has a hole in the center permitting it to slip over the center pin rod. The part number is almost the same but no suffix Brownel P/N 080 432 001 $9.00

This differentiates to their operators if you call them as to whether you are reading a brownells part number or a manufacturer item number, even if they have a similar character count. So for brownells, the 080432001 and 080432001WB are the same part number. You're not the first person to buy one, and won't be the last. Go on their site and search for "Ruger DA ejector" or "080432001," you'll find the right part, and it will be listed as 080432001WB.
