Anyone ever experienced a slack single-action trigger or discharge with your SR22?
Just curious. Link from Ruger. I asked around here and found nothing. Checking serial numbers on ours.

March 2024 Update from Ruger
SR22® Pistol Product Safety Bulletin (ruger.com)

They issued that bulletin a while back. Ruger says some guns do not have the two halves of the internal chassis fastened together correctly, and "only a very small number of pistols appear to be affected".

This is an update, changed to a higher serial than before, 369-89043. It must cover nearly every SR ever made. I just bought my two a month ago, and their serials are lower than the one given now. My serials are 369-82*** and 369-84***, 5-7 thousand higher than specified in the first bulletin.

It basically says if your SR is below 369-89043, and has experienced a slack trigger in SA shooting , you may have the problem. That's magazine in, slide forward, hammer cocked, safety off and you have a dead trigger instead of SA trigger. Also, if you have the problem do not trust the decocker.

They say if you haven't had the problem you gun is not affected by the bulletin. So I'm cool. Mine operate fine with 50 rounds apiece so far and additional cycling in my den.

March 2024 Update from Ruger
SR22® Pistol Product Safety Bulletin (ruger.com)
I experienced a slack trigger occasionally when I first got my SR22 years ago. Never had a discharge when decocking.
Ruger replaced the mag latch and mag safety and I haven't had any issue since.

I called when I got the bulletin and they said to send it in. It was within the S/N range.
I think they replaced frame insert and a couple of other things, but I'd have to check exactly what they did.
Seems to work fine, but I haven't shot it a ton lately.

Thanks bearcatter!
I was curious to the new serial number spread.
My SR22 has been exceptional since I bought it, and we checked moons ago on the serial numbers.
*I love my SR22 and really use it all the time. Keep it in the bag for most range trips for therapy.
*Asking at the range with club members and found almost no reports of slack trigger.
*Thanks for the replies. Ruger replaced mag latch and mag safety on my daughters several years ago and like True Grit stated no issues to speak of.

I really like mine. I've only used some old Auto Match so far, no hiccups. 1 3/4 inches at 15 yards, nice sights, perfect grip. What's not to like, except the mag safety! I would however, have paid extra for an alloy frame. I still have reservations about plastic.

By the serials, they've made at least 90,000 of them, more if there were other prefixes. That I don't know. Imagine if they all had to go back? They already had one recall several years back, changing the take-down latch from polymer to alloy.

Mine falls lower than the maximum affected serial number, but exhibits no problems. Good to go.

Well, my SR22 pistol shot fine in respect to the bulletin. The Herter’s 22 LR, not so much. Too many problems even for me at the range. I never had a malfunction with my SR22 until this morning. I got multiple failures to feed (empty chamber) I believe caused by low power not being able to cycle the slide full back enough to strip off the next round from the mag. I could hear / feel the difference in power while shooting. All I shot was Herter’s 6 mags. plus I had 2 failures to fire, multiple hits, I’ll tear these apart later and see what’s inside………I still had fun!

I just checked mine and it falls under this Bulletin. :mad:I completed the registration as per the Bulletin.
Waiting for Ruger's response.:(
Unless you have an issue, you should be just fine.
Mine runs great, issue free and I love it. Gets a ton of use and still runs.
Clear skies to you and yours.

You realize you don't do anything unless you're having the floppy trigger issue? The trigger is dead when it should be cocked for a SA shot.

My two were bought in January and are inside the update window, not the first. They function fine, so I'm good. I think the higher update was a "just in case" move.

After finding this thread I contacted Ruger and sent my SR22 back. Today I received the following email:

"We have examined the above referenced firearm and have concluded that it cannot be safely repaired and returned to factory specifications. As a gesture of goodwill, we will replace it at no charge with a current production model 03600."

Surprise!

I am not complaining about having to pay for the FFL transfer of $20.

What a deal!!

Did you have any issues at all before you sent it in? The ones I have had zero issue with no problems described in the bulletin(s). I did not locate anyone locally that had the specific issue. Good on Ruger for the safety check but again what issues did you have?
Ruger stated:

*Good luck to you and update when you can. Be safe and enjoy.

Were you having any problem, like mentioned in the bulletin, to prompt you to send it back? Said if you were not having the problem you were okay to forget about it.

I have two that aren't in the first window of serials, but are in the higher update window. I think the update was almost every SR22 ever made! They've shot about a box apiece, no issue.

I've trusting 60 rounds apiece through my two to be enough for any problem. I've also done some decocking and a little dry fire. Mine weren't in the original bulletin. Going with brother to the range Monday, and they'll get another 50 apiece.

Just shot my two today for another 50 rounds apiece, no issue. So that's 110 rounds each since I bought them in January. That reinforces that I'm safe from sending them back.
